Bri is one of our Content Creators here at C7D. Originally from Colorado, she went to Hampton University in Virginia where she studied Strategic Communication. She followed her sister out to the West Coast and has not regretted her move! She enjoys spending time with friends, listening to hip-hop and explaining why everyone should watch at least one season of Black Mirror. We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her better, here are her answers:

Q: What’s your favorite song from the 90’s?
A: Oh this is a hard one, but I have to say anything by the late, great Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey.

Q: What is your hot beverage of choice? 
A: Depending on the atmosphere, Chai tea or hot cocoa.

Q: What is your emotional response to the color yellow? 
A: I like yellow in most situations. I love yellow because it reminds of golden sunshine and warmth. I also love to see yellow on different beautiful skin tones and in nature.

Q: What is the weirdest pet you have ever had?
A: I’ve only ever had dogs, but I suppose the weirdest one I ever had was my dog Kojo, who was more of a cat than a dog.

Q: If you could have a conversation with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be? 
A: This is a hard one just because I would love to have a conversation with someone who’s passed on like Gandhi, but it would also be cool to talk to a living legend like Kendrick Lamar. 

Q: What was your favorite TV show growing up?
A: I loved cartoons in general growing up and I am still a cartoon fiend to this day. I watched all the Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network classics and I, of course, loved anything superhero related. I’m also a Fresh-Prince fan for life.

Q: If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
A: I would choose to be the Avatar, master of all four elements.

Q: What does your name mean/does it suit you? 
A: The name Briana means strong. I actually used to want to change my name growing up because it was so common but now I realize there is no Briana like me. Most people also call me Bri, which I think suits me even more.

Q: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A: It may sound a little cliché, but the sun and the promise of a new day get me out of bed. Each day is a new opportunity to make it better than the day before and you never know what day your life might change forever.

Q: Do you have any irrational fears?
A: I am irrationally terrified of snakes.

Q: What would the title of your memoir be?
A: Memoirs of a Gangsta

Q: If you were a color, what would you be and why?
A: I think I would be mermaid pink because pink is my favorite color and I feel like it says a lot about who I am.

Q: What are three things still left on your bucket list?
A: Skydiving, getting my diving license, and sailing my own boat on a long trip

Q: Who was your favorite teacher and why?
A: This is difficult because I actually have had so many amazing teachers throughout my life and each teach was present in my life at that moment for a reason.

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I always knew I wanted to be a star.

Q: Which three words best describe you?
A: Bright, bubbly, boss

Q: If you could travel in time, would you go to the past or the future? Why?
A: I would travel to the past because I know as scary as the future may seem, I don’t want to know it. It would also be pretty cool to talk to historical figures like Cleopatra, Abe Lincoln, MLK, or Michael Jackson.

Q: How would you like to be remembered?
A: I want to be remembered as a legend. I want people to remember me as always contributing good energy to the spaces I inhabit.

Q: Do you have any random pastimes you enjoy?
A: I actually enjoy rapping. Some of my favorites and inspirations are Kendrick Lamar, anyone else on TDE’s label, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Chance, Childish Gambino, Snoop and Tupac.

Q: How would you describe what you do at work to a child?
A: I take things that don’t always sound like they’d be fun and make them interesting through word power.
